Veterans Day

"America's fighting men and women sacrifice much to ensure that our great nation stays free. We owe a debt of gratitude to the soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for this cause, as well as for those who are blessed enough to return from the field of battle unscathed."

- Allen Boyd

Though some might walk from the fields of battle without visible wounds, all are nonetheless wounded.  In the valleys of their hearts the emotions will always remain.  Nothing can unwind their wounds, nothing can wash their souls clean.

Just as the emotions will forever remain, so too will the contributions of every member of each branch of our armed forces to the cause of freedom.  Deep as wounds are cut into the channels of their hearts, our gratitude reaches equal depths.

For the sacrifice of those who came before, from the dawn of this great nation to those who guard freedom in the darkness beyond the boundaries of our country this night, a sincere and humble thank you from a grateful nation on this day of remembrance.

We will never forget your contributions and sacrifice.

The Dream (Redux)

Lloyd Mitchell photo

We are living the dream.  We constantly test ourselves mentally, physically, and emotionally in order to remain steeled come what might.  We preserve the passion that drew us to this proud calling.

We live for the challenge, it is who we are. We are most alive when we push the limits of our capabilities, when we help others, it is where we thrive, it is where we are at our best.  It is the rush we get when we stand close to the edge.

God help us, we do love it so.
